The farm crew is very excited to welcome both our returning and new members to Pennypack Farm’s 21st growing season!! It is always a milestone for us to reach the first pickup day and offer members a selection of spring vegetables!
We have spent the last few months in the fields preparing and planting for the upcoming season. It has been a great spring for growing with the perfect balance of rain and dry weather to encourage the young plants!
One of the most exciting developments on the farm over the winter was the construction of the farm’s new pole barn. This beautiful building will serve a variety of functions including tractor parking and storage space for tools and supplies. Here are a few photos of the many happenings on the farm over the last few months:
Construction began in January on our new pole barn! Over the next few weeks we are looking forward to moving into the new barn! The building is now completed and the finishing touches of planting the banks and the rain garden around the barn will be worked on over the coming months.
In March we attended the official Montgomery County press conference celebrating the designation of Pennypack Farm as permanent preserved farmland! This was made possible by our partners at College Settlement Camp, the land owners of the farm property, through their decision to apply to be part of the Montgomery County Agricultural Land Preservation Program.
