It’s estimated that in Montgomery County, 10% or more than 80,710 individuals are food insecure. With increasing food prices, inflation, and the ongoing pandemic making food even less accessible, it’s vital that we raise awareness and funds to build a community where all people have the food they need to lead healthy lives. Pennypack Farm & Education Center is joining in the 26th Annual Race Against Hunger. The funds we raise will support our Fresh Produce Giving program. With the goal of reducing the barriers to access locally grown organic vegetables, our program donated more than 26,000 pounds of organic produce to local food pantries in 2021.
Why do we participate in the Race? We always welcome donations to our non-profit organization to support our giving and education programs. But, this event is bigger than us. When you donate to Team Pennypack Farm in the Race Against Hunger you are directing your donation to our produce giving program and to the Coalition Against Hunger’s efforts to reduce hunger in the greater Philadelphia area., extending the reach further into our community.
This year’s Race Against Hunger is a virtual event. You can participate wherever is convenient for you by walking, running or biking anywhere you want, between April 22 and May 1.
